I had a mixed experience at the Gretna Hotel in Taihape. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the location was quite convenient, but the noise from the bar and the overall condition of the rooms left much to be desired. It's a place with a lot of character, but if you prefer modern amenities, you might want to look elsewhere.

I needed a stopover in Taihape while on a road trip, so I decided to stay at the Gretna Hotel. The place is basic but comfy with decent-sized rooms and clean bathrooms. While I appreciated the friendly staff, the wifi was a bit hit or miss, and the hot water in the shower took a while to kick in. Overall, I think it's good value for the price if you're just looking for a quick stay.

However, the hot water in the shower took a while to come through, which was a bit inconvenient. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and I appreciated the cozy atmosphere. I’d recommend it for a short stay, especially given its value for money.
